My "Blog"
Hello Visitors!

The weekend of Aug. 19-22 was the weekend of Chicago Wizard World Comic Con. Call me a "name dropper" but I hung out with Ian Ziering (90210, Batman Beyond voice, Dancing w The Stars), John Schneider (Dukes of Hazzard, Smallville), and Lisa Marie Varon (aka Victoria of WWE, Tara of TNA). I must say that these three celebrities, along with a few others I had the pleasure of talking to, are very down to Earth people and very much fans of their fans. Celebrities mainly attend these conventions to make money by selling autographs and pics, but not one of these 3 turned down a fan who asked to take a free pic, just shake their hand or stand there and have a conversation. (A few fans were kind of creepy in my opinion.)

On to the real real reason for Comic Con: Comics! I worked all 3 1/2 days I was there but did take some family time on Sunday afternon to walk around with my girls. I spent wayyyy too much money! I got to meet in person Jeff Balke, finally, and saw him working in person. Very talented guy, who created "Sketch Coloring". I'm not going to go into details of it and probably butcher the process but it is COOL! It makes a black & white sketch look 3D to me. Please look this young artist up and support his art. I also met a few other artist who are talented as well and picked up a few pieces from them. Went to no panels so sorry can't give info on that.

Best part of the Con was that it refueled my fire which I desperately needed. I'm back to writing and back on the drawing table. The contacts I made at the Con, last year and this year are artists that support their craft and the industry so they are not shy about giving advice, feedback, and offereing their help in any way they can. I am surrounding myself, even if just virtually, with these wonderful folks and use their passion to feed mine and pursue this dream of seeing RETRIBUTION on print SOON!

Till next time,
AJ
